I just dropped off my 5 year old to his first day of Kindergarten. So big. So grown. He didn't even look back, just headed on into his classroom, happy as could be.

Jack's first day is right after Labor Day. He's nearly 5, too. For me, it's happening too fast. He's more ready than I am.

My son's started fifth grade this year - he'll be 11 in December. That means only 2 more years after that he'll be a teenager. Argh! Too fast!

Then again, 7 more years and he'll be out of the house! Hurray!

It's just amazing to watch them walk off into the world all by themselves, little men who've got it all under control.

I guess that means we've done a good job though, right?

On tough days, my husband and I imagine... only 13 more years till he's off to college or other adult pursuits... Not so long, right? But I can't imagine the house without him. Too quiet.

@ Bill - I taught Rory how to pee in the river this summer too. Same story, "I'm supposed to pee in my pants?" ---> "Well, yeah, but only this time, in the river... No, get waist deep... No, you don't pull your pants down."

And then he did it, and giggled and giggled ad giggled. "I'm peeing in my pants mom!!"

I'm dropping my 4 (almost 5) - year-old off for his first day in two weeks. I'm praying he does the same as yours did.
