In recognition of Canada Day, here's today's QOTD:

QUESTION OF THE DAY: What [in your opinion] is the best thing to come out of Canada?

Now, despite the fact that I live in a state bordering Canada, I've never been there - so I'm taking the "pop-culture" angle of "best thing". However, I can't pick just one, so I'll do categories.

Band: Rush [followed by Barenaked Ladies and Our Lady Peace]
Actor/Actress: William Shatner [followed by Nathan Filion in a close finish]
Athlete: Wayne Gretsky
Movie: Strange Brew*

* - I know, it was made from a SCTV skit - but it was based in Canada, so it counts in my brain.

So, what about you? What's your favorite thing about Canada?

Some of my favorite bands are from the lovely Canadia. Can't decide on the #1 thing though! I hope to visit there someday.

Music: so much good music has come out of Canada. Nettwerk records for example, they have so many talented musicians on their roster.

Loudspeakers: Paradigm have been consistently making good sounding speakers since they first started.

    Strange Brew: You Hoser!

    Besides myself?
    - EA Canada
    - Bryan Adams
    - The Guess Who
    - Ellen Paige
    - Macgyver (filming)

Canada has, per capita, better music and more advanced technology than anywhere in the world, even USA. 1/4 of the good music is from Canada, but the US is a trillion times bigger.

You've never been to Canada? So far I've only been to Ontario, Quebec and New Brunswick--must get to Vancouver some day--but they have some beautiful places up there.

Folks have already listed many of the famous people, so I'll take a different tack.

I like watching Canada Geese fly about but hate stepping in their droppings.

I'm rather glad the Canadians popularized Curling, though it is originally Scottish.

So, I guess I'll focus on a food that almost all Powncers would appreciate: Peameal Bacon. Tis far superior to that which we call "Canadian Bacon" in the U.S., but is now available here too. http://www.realcanadia...
