    I think someone should meet with Hamas.
    Everything we have tried to help get started in that area has been a failure up to now, so could there be any real harm in meeting with Hamas?
    The Palestinians are still going to throw rocks and homemade rockets at the Israelis, and the Israeli's are still going to bomb the neighborhood that the rockets came from, and any others that happen to be in the area. How could he actually make things worse? So his meeting with Hamas is harmless. Our current administration is not going to listen to any suggestion he makes, so in the end, it means nothing. Let him go.

    I have to disagree Brian. Hamas getting their picture taken with a former US president gives them clout. I'm against giving them ANY clout. They are now, and always have been, a bunch of terrorists.

    Their current offer is a "truce" for 10 years, not "peace". A truce means that if a Jew farts up-wind from them they can claim its an attack by Israel and resume blowing up ice cream parlors full of children.

    Hamas does NOT want peace. They want Israel and all the Jews destroyed. Period. (Just watch their children's tv shows)

    Carter going there will make no difference. Never has. Never will.

    You will only have peace when one side is completely defeated. That's why, though we were once bitter enemies, we are now friends with Japan, Germany, Italy, France, Great Britain, Spain, and Mexico.

    We have a "truce" with North Korea. ( Not very friendly!)

    The only country Israel has an actual peace treaty with in the area is Egypt. And Israel kicked the living shit out of Egypt during the 6 day war.
