I want to hack my iPhone. Everything I see keeps telling me that I need to downgrade the firmware, then jailbreak it.

Point me in the right direction. I am running v 1.1.3

    iphone stinks. like any other ipod product the battery is non-replaceable.

    get a psp or a max media dock for nintendo ds.

    I'd offer some help if I could TJ, but I don't own an iPhone and am iPhone stoopid.

    I love Francesco's reply though. It's like when I ask 'How do I do this on Windows XP?' or 'How do I do that on linux?' and the answer I get is: Get a Mac.

    Yeah I am the same way. I embrace almost all technology. No need to hate on any one thing. Everything has it strong points. (except solaris =p )
    Windows, Linux, Mac, I run them all :)

    TJ, I track this stuff for my website and yeah I am pretty sure you need to downgrade the firmware to get it to hack, but then the hacks will bring you back up to 1.1.3

    Hey Man,
    You can do this out of the box, or if you've upgraded and it works just fine... and it's GUI (Windows Only, but it doesn't need to be your named system)...

    1. Go to http://iphone.unlock.no and download ZiPhone GUI
    2. Turn your iPhone off and unplug the USB
    3. Hold the home button (round button at bottom of phone) in, and plug the USB cable in
    4. You'll know see the iTunes logo and USB connector but nothing else, make sure nothing else is on the screen
    5. Click on "Free my iPhone" in ZiPhone and wait... some text may scroll on your screen, just wait about a minute and it's done...

    works a dream.

    Oh and I made a video of me doing it, but never released it in the end... if anyone does need a video, wait til Tech25 at http://www.live25.co.uk when we'll show you how to do it if you're a little scared. I've now done it on 3 iPhones, both OOB and Upgraded to 1.1.3 and it works really well.

    You don't need to, if you use the solution I gave you. I can do 1.1.3, no need to downgrade... but you do need to upgrade if your using anything less than 1.1.3

    Sascha - Do I want to "activate" also? My phone is already active and in use.

    Or do I just want to jailbreak?
