I'd be willing to bet he is using carbon offsets. This is just another writer looking for something to bitch about. With all the "green" technologies he is investing in, he's allowed a little "evil' time.
Just because you devote yourself to finding greener resources, doesn't mean you need to cut yourself off completely from the real world. Personally, I carbon offset my car, my wifes car, our home, and our recent trip to Michigan. I know I'm doing my part.
